The online application process for the Tucson Pima Arts Council’s Public Art Roster is now underway with an application deadline of November 13, 2008. The Public Art Roster is being refreshed with all artists currently on the Roster being removed; all artists with interest in creating public art, inexperienced and experienced, are invited and encouraged to apply. The next Call to Artists for the Roster is anticipated for mid to late 2010.
The Tucson Pima Arts Council's Public Art Roster offers a list of artists prequalified through an open selection process for use by communities, businesses, public agencies, or governmental departments seeking artists for public commissions.
The Roster may be used to select artists for capital improvement projects with artwork budgets of less than $50,000 in Tucson and Pima County, Arizona. Projects with limited budgets may present opportunities for artists interested in creating public art but who have no prior public art experience.
Panels
Artists will be prequalified for the Public Art Roster by a panel whose composition is comparable to the composition used with project-specific Calls to Artists: a visual arts or design professional, two working artists, a representative of the funding department, and three additional stakeholders representing community or professional interests. Once on the Roster, artists may be selected for individual projects by a panel established specifically for the unique project in the City of Tucson or Pima County. Panels prequalifying artists for the Roster and selecting artists from the Roster will be encouraged to consider artists without prior experience.
